Do you or your students need to answer a health related question and Google can't find it for you? Come to this session and learn how to use MedlinePlus, a free website presenting health information in an understandable format and using "living room" language from resources that are authoritative, reliable and up-to-date. MedlinePlus, a partnership of the National Library of Medicine and the National Institute of Health requires no registration, no fees and no personal information! Learn to use this resource and empower your health and that of your students. Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops or mobile devices for this hands-on workshop, or use a laptop provided by the literacy council.
This workshop will be presented by Jessica Rush. As a former registered nurse/health sciences librarian, she is committed to teaching others how to improve their health and to maintain wellness. Currently, Jessica volunteers with ESL and GED prep programs and is a member of the Health Literacy Partnership.
All literacy volunteers, program staff and those interested in literacy are invited to attend.
